OnePlan Release Notes - May 3, 2024

The May 3rd, 2024 update brings significant performance enhancements across various aspects of OnePlan. These include faster initial loading times, improved efficiency in resource and financial plan imports, and quicker loading of work plan tables. Additionally, users can now enjoy streamlined navigation with enhanced filtering options, improved plan search functionality, and simplified toolbar layouts. Additionally, new features such as local plan fields and multiple-level grouping offer enhanced customization for better work item organization. While the ability to bulk update custom resource booking fields and retain plan-level field filters in the global resource plan view adds further convenience to users.

Your organization can leverage many of these new enhancements today. To help you quickly assess all the updates, the following is a summarized list (with the details contained in the article below).

Portfolio Plan

1. Flexible and Fast Filters: Easily pinpoint the fields you want to filter. The new filters work with the portfolio list, board, and roadmap.
2. Speed Boost for Plan Type Hierarchies: Only the top level of the hierarchy is initially loaded. As you expand each level, it loads dynamically.
3. Simplified Plan Search in Portfolio List: The "Find Plans" option is now available in the portfolio list toolbar.
4. Streamlined Portfolio List Toolbar: Less frequently used advanced options are now tucked under the ellipsis icon.

Global Plan Search

1. Work Plan Performance Enhanced Plan Navigation Easily locate and navigate to your plans from any screen within the app
2. Resource Picker: Finding and selecting resources is now quicker and more straightforward

Work Plan

1. Local Plan Fields: Plan Managers can now create local plan fields to capture additional information for work items
2. Multiple Level Grouping: Group the work plan by up to three levels for streamlined organization of work items
3. Work Item Color Categorization: Group work items by color, providing visual clarity and streamlining work management
4. Fixed Duration Work Items Update: When a work item is set to "fixed duration" (and not effort-driven), removing all assigned resources will automatically set the effort to zero
5. Enhanced Work Plan View Experience: Views are now sorted alphabetically
6. Resource Usage Feature Deprecation: Similar functionality is available in the "Resources" option within the work plan contextual menu (the hamburger menu on the top right side)

Resource Plan

1. Bulk Update for Custom Resource Booking Fields: Check the checkbox on multiple booking rows to initiate bulk editing
2. Global Resource Plan View Enhancement: Saving views in the global resource plan now retains plan-level field filters

Performance Improvements

Fast Initial Load

• OnePlan now loads faster than ever before, delivering a seamless user experience.
• Upon navigating to OnePlan or refreshing your browser, resources are no longer required to be loaded.
• Previously, resource basic information was loaded and cached, potentially causing slowdowns as more resources were added. This is now a thing of the past.
• Customers with large numbers of resources will experience the most significant improvement.

Enhanced Resource Plan and Financial Plan Import Efficiency

• The import job now processes data faster than ever, improving overall efficiency.
• Able to handle larger datasets with greater speed, facilitating smoother manual imports.
• Nightly scheduled imports for cost and resource plan types set to auto-import also benefit from the improved efficiency.

Improved Work Plan Table Performance

• Loading work plan tables is now quicker than ever before.
• Experience faster data loading when viewing work plan tables in the plan details form or status reports.

Speed Boost for Resource Plan External Import API

• The resource plan external import API now operates at an increased speed, facilitating faster data imports.

Portfolio Plan

Flexible and Fast Filters

• Easily pinpoint the fields you want to filter on, making searching through plans a breeze.
• Choose between filtering all plan type hierarchy levels for a flat list view or display the hierarchy and filter on the top plan type level selected.
• Filtered results load swiftly, loading only the selected plans for improved speed. Plus, saved views with filters load faster due to reduced data loading.
• Seamless integration with existing pre-filters ensures a smooth transition to the enhanced filtering system.
• The new filters work with the portfolio list, board, and roadmap.

Speed Boost for Plan Type Hierarchies

• Plan type hierarchies now load significantly faster in the list view.
• Only the top level of the hierarchy is initially loaded. As you expand each level, it loads dynamically.
• Unlike before, where all levels are loaded upfront, this incremental loading optimizes performance and speeds up navigation through hierarchies.

Simplified Plan Search in Portfolio List

• Quickly locate plans within the portfolio list with ease.
• The "Find Plans" option is now available in the portfolio list toolbar.
• Simply type in the plan name, then click the magnifying glass icon or press enter on your keyboard.  Matching plans will be displayed in a list for easy access.

Streamlined Portfolio List Toolbar

• Less frequently used advanced options are now tucked under the ellipsis icon.
• The toolbar is decluttered, providing a cleaner interface focused on common tasks.

Global Plan Search

Enhanced Plan Navigation

• Easily locate and navigate to your plans from any screen within the application.
• Utilize the search option to discover and access new plans effortlessly.
• Find recently visited or favorite plans swiftly with the enhanced navigation feature.

Resource Picker

Improved Resource Selection in OnePlan

• Finding and selecting resources is now quicker and more straightforward.
• Recent selections are automatically displayed, streamlining access to frequently used resources.
• Easily locate any user within your group by using the search option.
• OnePlan Owners can apply filters to user fields, ensuring precise resource selection.  

Work Plan

Local Plan Fields

• Plan Managers can now create local plan fields to capture additional information for work items.
• Create fields as needed to suit your specific requirements, enhancing data capture capabilities.
• These fields are exclusive to your plan and serve for internal reference only.
• Access and utilize local plan fields to enrich your work item data without impacting external views and reports.

Multiple Level Grouping

• Group the work plan by up to three levels for streamlined organization of work items.
• Easily categorize and manage tasks with multi-level grouping options.
• When grouping is applied, certain scheduling functions are temporarily disabled until the grouping is removed.

Work Item Color Categorization

• Assign different colors to work items for easy categorization and visual identification.
• Group work items by color, providing visual clarity and streamlining work management.

Fixed Duration Work Items Update

• When a work item is set to "fixed duration" (and not effort-driven), removing all assigned resources will automatically set the effort to zero.
• This ensures accurate effort representation in alignment with resource assignments.

Enhanced Work Plan View Experience

• Finding and selecting views is now easier and more intuitive.
• Icons and tooltips are added to classify view types, aiding in quick identification.
• Views are now sorted alphabetically for better organization and accessibility.

Resource Usage Feature Deprecation

• On May 3, 2024, the Resource Usage view will be removed from the Work Plan. Previously, users could use the Resource Usage view to resource utilization in their plan. Similar functionality is available in the "Resources" option within the work plan contextual menu (the hamburger menu on the top right side).  You can view the resource load without leaving the Work Plan by using the "Show Resource Plan" option.  Removing this option greatly improves work plan performance.  This improvement will be more noticeable in large schedules with many levels, resources, and dependencies.

• Easily update custom resource booking fields for multiple rows simultaneously.
• Check the checkbox on multiple booking rows to initiate bulk editing.  Access the bulk edit option from the contextual menu for seamless updating.

• Saving views in the global resource plan now retains plan-level field filters.
• Enjoy the convenience of preserved filters tailored to your specific viewing preferences.
